North Circular: A Musical Trip Through Dublin’s North Inner City @ Watershed Cinema

Tuesday 12th March, 18:00

North Circular is a multiple award winning documentary musical that travels the length of Dublin’s North Circular Road, from the Phoenix Park to Dublin Port, exploring the history, music and streetscapes of a street that links some of the country’s most beloved and infamous places.

Told in black and white 4:3 Academy ratio, the film evokes narratives from the history of the city from colonialism, to mental health, to the struggle for women’s liberation, while also engaging with urgent issues of today including the battle to save the legendary Cobblestone Pub, the centre of Dublin’s recent folk revival from destruction at the hands of cynical property developers.

North Circular includes musical performances from the city’s finest new folk artists including Ian Lynch of Lankum, Lisa O’Neill, John Francis Flynn, Annie Hughes, Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin  & Gemma Dunleavy.

This special event screening, presented in association with the Watershed Cinema, will include a live musical performance and a panel discussion featuring the film’s writer and director Luke McManus.
